Kicking Horse is known as a mountain made for an adventure! Boasting 4,133 metres over 2750 acres there is endless terrain to keep you entertained for the winter season and the perfect opportunity for adrenaline junkies to charge down a 4,000 ft ski out, the second longest in Canada!

The Hype

You may have already heard the hype about the terrain at Kicking Horse; with 106 runs; 65% of which are labelled under the ‘Intermediate - Advanced’ category and a quick gondola to access it all, Kicking Horse has swiftly become an extremely popular place for searching for an exciting mountain and more challenging terrain.

As one of Canada’s fastest growing resorts (in popularity that is!) it is without a doubt a place that any keen snowboarder should try out.

After being orphaned in 2003 Boo, a Grizzly Bear was found by KHMR and rescued. They built a rather big 22 acre pen for him to roam in and if he decides to take some exercise he can often be seen mid-winter from the Gondola, provided he has not escaped!

Apres Ski

At the base of the Gondola is the Kicking Horse Mountain Plaza; there are a selection of shops, bars, restaurants and the lodge where you will be able to buy lunch and après ski beers. It has a distinctly modern touch with a lovely alpine ski resort feel. There are also a number of hotels and guest houses available for tourists and guests.

Eagle Eye at the top of KHMR was voted "Best mountain restaurant in North America" by The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide.

If you happen to be enjoying a few apres ski beers at Kicking Horse after dark, be sure to look up at the sky. Due to the lack of light pollution in Kicking Horse Country, the stars are beautifully bright and in abundance.
