3-Week Snowboard Instructor Course

Course Structure

This 3-week snowboard instructor course consists of two weeks of preparation coaching  followed by the CASI Level 1 Instructor Assessment held in the final week. The weekends are all yours so you can enjoy free-riding, or activities like cat-boarding or our avalanche courses.

Course Overview

Arrival Day
You can either join our group flight from London Heathrow or make your own travel arrangements and meet us at the airport for the NONSTOP transfer to the resort. Settle into your accommodation and either hit the pillow (recommended!) or get to know the others on the course over a few drinks. A course calendar and detailed outline of the week ahead will be provided.
Day 2 We'll take you on an orientation of the town and resort, pick up lift passes and meet your instructor for some light 'warm-up' riding. If you need to buy any equipment, our instructors can offer advice and the local shops will be aware of our course and are on hand to help.
Days 3-5 Our instructors will initially focus on improving your own personal riding skills before introducing the teaching skills needed to pass the instructor assesment. Riding development will be on all areas of the mountain, both on and off-piste and we'll be making the most of any powder days we receive. There will be an indoor Technical Session on board tuning and maintenance when you'll learn about waxing, edge sharpening, and repairs.
Days 6-8 Explore the mountain and put your newly aquired skills and riding technique into practice with some free-riding time. This is also an opportunity to take our optional Avalanche Safety Course.
Days 9-12 The coaching continues with a joint focus on your personal riding, exploring the mountain, and instructor skills. Video analysis will help you pick up on your own areas for improvement and you'll be able to practice your teaching using the drills that you've been taught. You should find that you're picking up useful instructor techniques on different teaching styles and the exercises your instructor is using. The indoor Technical Session this week is on the standards required to pass the Level 1 course.
Days 13-15 Free-ride and rest time before the Level 1 assesment course.
Days 16-19 The Level 1 CASI Assesment course.
Days 20-21 Final chance to free-ride, or seize the chance to go cat-boarding, a highlight for many (offered in Fernie). We hold a farewell dinner and then its back to the airport for many, or a snowboarding instructor job for others.

Please note that the outline above is an overview and might vary between resorts or depending on the dates you choose. (For instance New Year's eve/day will always require us to shift things around slightly!)
