Level 2 Snowboard Instructor Course

Course Structure

The following table gives you and idea of what you'll be focusing on during this 6-week snowboard instructor course. Naturally our aim is to get you successfully through the level 2 assessment, but we also want to massively improve your own riding and have a lot of fun too.

Each week we will review one aspect of the Performance criteria for level 2 demonstration skills and teaching criteria. The level 2 assessment course will be held in the sixth week.

Week 1
  • Warm up week: It's probably been a while since you last rode so a week of riding, coaching and getting back into the CASI frame of mind is a great way to start the programme.

Week 2     

                   

  • Technical: Develop stance and balance - stance is centred and mobile.
  • Tactical: Demonstration development for riding at the level 2 standard.
  • Teaching: Lesson planning specific to the level 2 standard.
Week 3
  • Technical: Pivot and steering skills are explored and Edging becomes a focus.
  • Tactical: Test the necessity of these skills from the steeps to the flats.
  • Teaching: Develop analysis and improvement skills.
Week 4
  • Technical: Pressure Control is developed
  • Tactical: The mountain truly becomes a playground with this new understanding.
  • Teaching: Develop analysis and improvement skills within the intermediate level at the level 2 standard.
Week 5
  • Technical: Timing and Coordination skills are paramount.
  • Tactical: Develop all mountain skills specific to the level 2 standard. Making it look easy.
  • Teaching: Students practice teach to their peer group.
